Family Services was created by two men who have the intense desire to
see our young people turn away from what could be a destructive path.
In 2004, there were 462 young men admitted into the juvenile
correctional facility. In 2005, the number increased to 489, and by
May 2006, there were 264 young people from Lynchburg, Virginia and the
surrounding areas that had been admitted into Lynchburg's juvenile
detention center. On the average, they are taking in 30 young people a
day.
The inefficient family structure within the homes, in
collaboration with the negative view of the legal system, has created a
rapid decline in the positive productivity contributed to society by
these young people. There needs to be options that will attract them,
as well as, encourage them to become functional young people and mature
adolescents that will eventually become the driving force of our
country. With God's principles and guidelines along with the steadfast
determination and direction, Emmanuel Family Services will make a
difference! Within the company stands 24 years of experience in
assisting at-risk youth to become functional citizens. What was
initially born in the mind of God, has now manifested into Emmanuel
